The main duties come from the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Scaffolds must be erected, altered and dismantled by competent people, and built either to a TG20:21 compliance sheet or to a bespoke design with calculations. For commercial clients across Hertfordshire, Middlesex and London, we supply RAMS and design information before work begins, and a handover certificate once the scaffold is complete.
Yes. Where someone could fall 2 metres or more, a competent person must inspect the scaffold before first use and then at intervals of no more than 7 days. It must also be re-inspected after high winds, storms or any alteration. Written reports are kept on site until the work is finished, and for three months after that.
Overloading is one of the most frequent, usually when bricks, blocks or roof tiles are stacked on a lift built for lighter work. Every scaffold is designed for a specific load class, and that rating should be displayed on the structure. If your trades need to store heavy materials at height, tell us at quotation stage and we will design a heavy-duty lift or loading bay rated for the weight.
No single system is the strongest, because a scaffold's strength comes from its design as much as its components.
